EOS & NYX

At EOS & NYX, we partnered with the visionary team behind Paper Plane and MINIBOSS to create a bold new dining destination in downtown San Jose. Their goal was to showcase the city's future potential, and our design approach focused on bringing that energy to life through a seamless indoor-outdoor experience and striking architectural features.

Working with the existing steel structure from a former movie theater, we reimagined the space to maximize both functionality and atmosphere. We introduced a new mezzanine level, expanding the footprint and offering guests a dynamic, multi-level dining experience. To create a stronger connection to the street, we incorporated operable storefront windows that invite the energy of downtown right into the dining room.

One of the standout elements we designed is the 21-foot double-height liquor carousel — an operable, illuminated tower that stores over 400 bottles and visually connects the main bar and mezzanine. This, along with a custom-designed mezzanine staircase, anchors the space and creates moments of discovery throughout the guest experience.

We carefully curated the material palette to strike a balance between industrial edge and refined sophistication, using black waxed steel, Baltic birch plywood, copper, brass, limestone, leather, and terrazzo. We also relocated the main entry to frame the solid fuel exhibition kitchen, immediately immersing guests in the heart of the culinary action.

Lighting played a critical role in our design, allowing the restaurant to transition effortlessly from a lively daytime venue to a cozy, atmospheric nighttime destination.

With EOS & NYX, we set out to craft more than just a restaurant — we created an environment where architecture, storytelling, and the spirit of downtown San Jose come together in one unforgettable experience.
